No Man Knows ...
The last few weeks of pregnancy can be a trying time for any mom. Since the 35th week of my pregnancy the frequency of doctor
visits has increased to once-a-week visits to measure
my uterus to get a sense of how Baby Shelby is growing, take her heart rate,
and check my cervix for signs of impending labor. The last couple of visits,
there has been no cervix dilation. However, the
doctor can feel her head on my cervix, which means she's in a head-down
position in preparation for birth, but no dilation whatsoever. Today I had my 38th week appointment --- still no change in cervical dilation. It was a discouraging report because it seems as if absolutely
nothing has happened.....
As a first-time
expectant mom, who is waiting on labor I'm now wondering when will it happen?
When I first became pregnant and started my prenatal care, my doctor gave my husband and I a due date of January 29, 2018 and told us this due date doesn't change. Even after we were told on October 20th that we were measuring three weeks ahead, the due date remained the same. So, when, people ask me when I'm due, I say it with a sense of confidence — “I'm due on January 29.” However, I've learned from others experience that due dates are an estimate and never set in stone; despite the doctor's best guesses and all their fancy technology. The simple truth is, no one knows for sure; and no one knows why some babies take their own sweet time. So, with that being said; no one knows the day or hour (even with telltale signs). We have often even heard it said of the Lord's return. Well, you know what? Technically they're right! Today, I even had someone to tell me "She will come when she gets ready, patience"; and then another person told me "Be patient! She will soon be here!" While I am anxious to have my baby born, I'm also not rushing the delivery of my baby, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm ready meet my baby face to face.
"Therefore, be
ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh".
Matt 24:44
I've had many people predict the coming our baby. I've heard she would be here before her due date and after the due
date. Some gave exact dates, but I am trusting God with the timing of my labor because just as no one knows when baby is coming, no one can know when Jesus
is coming. However, the Father alone knows and I look forward to that day to both of their coming with gladness. In the meantime, I will be WATCHING and be READY.
“Therefore, keep watch, because you do not know the day or the
hour."
As I mentioned before, we may not know the day nor the hour, but one thing we know for sure, ready or not, HE is coming! And we need to watch and be ready. The question becomes, will we be ready? There are many in the world today who are not ready and are not making any preparation to one day meet Jesus. Just as I’ve prepared spending some time preparing my mind, body, and soul for to meet my baby girl, we must also have the desire to be prepared to meet Jesus face to face. Even the Bible tells us in Amos 4:12, "Prepare to meet your God" because we will all meet Him
Dear Friend, Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thess. 5:23
